There are 6 major areas in which your organization may benefit from the support provided by Cornerstone Professional Resources.  The technical support and personal assistance that you will receive from our staff of specially trained and certified coaches help to create and sustain effective educational programs.
Following is a brief summary of the services that we provide:
  1. Program Management and Record Keeping – Extensive training for a Program Director is required in order to maintain program integrity and to meet the evaluation requirements of a funded program. This support must be planned in conjunction with program staff and must meet the specific needs that are identified for the participants in the program. Since effective management and record keeping are often indicators of the overall success of a program, it is important that the Program Director receive on-going training on the most current and best practices in both management and record keeping. Cornerstone staff will assist your Program Director in developing the skills they need to ensure your program’s success.
    1. Learn to use your needs assessment as a project and management tool
    2. Gain assistance in creating student forms and records that eliminate duplicate information and that reduce paperwork
    3. Receive training in developing a site emergency plan
    4. Learn a proactive planning process that prepares you to respond quickly and effectively to program changes
    5. Learn to create a tangible link between program planning and program evaluation

 

  1. Collaboration Rebuilding- Building collaboration is essential to support and sustain every program. Collaboration must begin as a shared vision, be focused to meet the diverse needs of program participants, and be based on the concept of inclusive partnerships. Cornerstone staff will assist you to develop sustainable partnerships with tangible goals for maintaining fiscal support to your program(s). Cornerstone’s proven approach to collaborative networking simplifies the process of building effective community partnerships.
    1. Acquire and use the current research on building sustainable partnerships
    2. Practice the skills for conducting effective collaborative meetings
    3. Learn the steps to obtaining MOU’s that really work for student needs
    4. Become skilled in helping groups to develop programs based on shared visions

 

  1. Budget- We design specialized budget spreadsheets for your project. In addition, we instruct program personnel in using these spreadsheets to align and track all budget expenditures so that daily and monthly program accounting is made easy. The assistance that we provide helps a Program Director and their support staffs become familiar with the essential components of budget management and its connection to the project goals.
    1. Receive instruction in creating a spreadsheet to track all program expenditures
    2. Learn how to connect program goals with correlating expenditures to meet those goals
    3. Make sure that your program is not “left in limbo” when district budget freezes are mandated
    4. Gain skills in budget management so that your program never has to send back unused dollars

 

  1. Staff Development-This is one of most critical and important elements of any program. A staff, knowledgeable of the program design and intent, is the single most measure of your ability to meet the goals for clients that are embodied in the vision of your program. Cornerstone has the skills, knowledge, and personnel to make this a reality for you.
    1. Learn to link all school programs through coordinated staff development
    2. Receive literacy training and strategies that support integrated literacy instruction
    3. Gain skills in using student portfolios in support of managing and monitoring goals for student achievement
    4. Receive coaching in using volunteers to strengthen your instructional program
    5. Learn how to sustain effective instructional programs even when the majority of your staff calls in sick

 

  1. Curriculum- Every Program Director must have a knowledge and understanding of the curricular structures within the program. They must know how those structures will be implemented in order to meet the needs of the students identified to be served. We will provide the Program Director with the tools that will assist her to be a curricular leader for her staff and that will allow her to establish the instructional components of the program in alignment with a strong curricular focus.
    1. Learn and practice the relationship between program curriculum and instruction
    2. Be able to identify and use the curricular indicators of student achievement
    3. Practice instructional strategies that are linked most directly to student learning
    4. Learn to develop student progress reports that can be used to engage parents as knowledgeable partners
    5. Develop an implementation plan that is based on effective curricular strategies
    6. Help your staff to understand how their work is supportive of students’ identified needs

 

  1. Parent Involvement- The knowledge and practice of effective parent involvement strategies is an essential aspect of every program and cannot be compromised. In order to maximize student learning, build participation of parents as knowledgeable partners, and increase community satisfaction with and support of the schools efforts, this component must be clearly understood and effectively implemented. The Cornerstone staff utilizes research based strategies to help you build and sustain a strong parent involvement component. The techniques are simple and manageable, and the results are lasting.
    1. Use the research on parent involvement to create a dynamic effect on your program
    2. Increase your parent participation and create sustaining community partnerships
    3. Learn how to encourage parents to help you maintain student involvement and motivation
    4. Practice the use parent/student compacts as a tool for positive discipline
    5. Learn to use parent volunteers in meeting your program goals for students
    6. Make parent involvement a major and recognizable component for your program
